Easter family devotional Bible gospels

Easter family devotional to share

I’ve spent the past week when I wasn’t sick working like a madwoman to get the Easter family devotional done to share with y’all.  We’re on a two-year Bible curriculum, and I want to have two different lessons for the kids to complete on Palm Sunday each year.  One for during the Old Testament that covers the ministry of Jesus, that’s the other Easter Family devotional I shared before and this one for when we’re in the New Testament in our Sunday School class.

This one works with just having finished up the life of Christ.  It covers just the events that happened during Holy Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter.  I cheated a little and included the Friday before because I really like the story of Mary washing Jesus’ feet.

What’s in this Easter Family Devotional?

Well, instructions for each day on what to do, how to put it together, verses to read, and finally some questions to go through as a family.

I had fun putting the crafts together, I and I hope you all enjoy this just as much as I did.  I know my kids are looking forward to completing it.

And for those who are wondering, I put it together for my Sunday school class of about 25 for the cost of $15 (give or take a few), I could have saved a few dollars and not put in the washcloths, but I think that adds to the whole thing.  It did take me several hours as I had to prep the craft materials, but that passed fairly quickly as I watched a movie or two during that time.

Future Ticia 2022 here, I realized I never told you what you’ll need to put this all together.

Easter family devotional year 2 printable, printer paper (about 6 sheets per child), matchboxes ( bought this at the dollar store, and dumped all the matches into a ziploc bag, years later I still have some, partially because I kept redoing this lesson every 2 years), stapler, washcloths (this is the most expensive part), scrapbook paper, clothespins, yarn

UPDATE:  Many thanks to Jennifer for catching my mistake.  I put the wrong reference for the Wednesday passage, and thanks to her question it’s now fixed.

Question about the Wed. discussion: Where in the Bible do you see that Philip and Andrew brought Greeks to Jesus after he cleared the temple? I have read all 4 accounts of that incident and never does it mention Philip, Andrew, or Greeks. What verses is this referring to? Thank you for your time!

    1. Those are some great questions, and hopefully my answer satisfies you.
Some of the order of events is supposition, I used this site as a basis to figure it out what to put when. Part of the problem comes about when you try to synthesize 4 Gospels down into one timeline. The other part comes when I put the wrong reference in the devotional. I’ll correct that now, it should say John 12:20-36. John doesn’t include the cleansing of the temple at this point, so it’s our best guess if this passage comes before Jesus clears the temple or after. I have a hard time seeing Jesus teaching in a temple full of traders, so I’d agree with putting it after.
Thanks for asking that question and helping me to correct my mistake.

  3. This is fabulous – thank you so much for taking the time to put it together – and for free! My children are craft lovers so this is a perfect way for us to celebrate Holy Week.
