I’ll admit it right now, I’m a sucker for a good fairy tale. Half of MY books are variations on fairy tales, the other half are daring heroic tales. So when I was asked about reviewing the upcoming Disney’s Brave DVD I didn’t have to think twice.
Disney Brave’s DVD FEATURES
5 discs-Blue Ray, 2nd Blue Ray disc with more Bonus features, 3D Blue Ray, DVD, digital copy
over 10 short films: La Luna (from the theatrical release), Legend of Mordu, Dirty Hairy People, and many more
WHAT WE LOVED about Disney’s Brave
the triplets, if you haven’t seen the movie yet, you’ll laugh at Merida’s younger brothers who are little rascals
her father, Jeff and I loved how he was a strong father figure even if he was fallible
okay, I’ll just say her whole family. I laughed at loud at the parents discussing Merida’s stubbornness, I foresee many conversations like that someday in my house
Merida, she’s a fun character
the crazy witch, I mean woodcarver
THINGS TO BE AWARE OF in Disney’s Brave
there are two scenes where you see naked backsides, there is nothing sexual about it, it’s played for laughs, but it is there
the bear in this movie can be scary, if your little one is prone to nightmares keep that in mind
one of the scenes with the witch is a little scary at times, but overall she’s funny.
OUR OVERALL RATING of Disney’s Brave
10 enthusiastic thumbs up, the kids got a little scared at some of the scenes but right after watching the movie the boys eagerly headed out to shoot bows and arrows, and Princess happily pretended to be Merida. In my book any movie that leads to pretend play and my kids doing things together is a good movie.
