Welcome to Adventures in Mommydom. If you haven’t yet, I’d suggest you read the About Page. You’ll get an idea of our personalities, and who we are as a family.

Hands on Learning
My kids are all very active learners. They love to be in the midst of things, and seeing how everything fits together. To aid this many of our lessons are hands on. If you’re looking to get started with hands on learning, check out How I teach using hands on learning.
My philosophy of learning influences all we do, and what I write about, most of the ideas shared here are designed to get your kids involved in the learning.
I write about the Bible a lot. I am in the midst of publishing a 2 year Bible curriculum (go check out the syllabus). As each unit is finished I’m adding a page for easy reference that are all linked on the drop down menu to make them easier to find. My favorite Bible posts (so far) are:
I love history. After the Bible, it might well be my favorite thing to write about here. I love finding ways to show kids why history is relevant, and why we care about people who lived hundreds or thousands of years ago. Of course we put our own hands on twist to it. My absolute favorite history activities have been:
- First Battle of Bull Run simulation
- What caused World War 1
- Ancient Sumerian activities
- Hanging Gardens of Babylon
After history, I’d say I love to write about science. As we cover topics I’m trying to get a landing page for each area of homeschool science. Here’s my favorite science posts from each area of science we’ve covered:
- Anatomy: Finding Fats in Foods experiment
- Zoology: Land Animals: How Does a Cow’s Stomach Work?
- Zoology: Flying Creatures: Prepare to be Grossed Out
- Zoology: Swimming Creatures: Florida Oceans
Finally, there’s just some random mish-mash of posts you’ll find here. I sometimes write about Mommy crafts, which usually means sewing like my DIY Rapunzel dress. Occasionally I’ll write about parenting, like why being unique makes me a good parent. And because otherwise I’m just not being true to myself, sometimes you get to hear about my memories, happy, sad and everything in between.
