I’m a creative person, you guys probably already knew that, but I thought I’d get it out there and say it. My school notes were always filled with random doodles. My hands are never still. I also love Bible study, you probably also knew that. I write lots about our Sunday School lessons, and family discipleship. Today, I’ve got something that unites those two things, a Bible study for creative people.
What makes this a Bible study for creative people?
I’m glad you ask. It’s because she encourages you to doodle in your study and in your Bible. Not only that, but she gives you lots of suggestions, with pictures. I LOVE pictures.
I discovered Stone Soup for Five a few years ago on Pinterest, (one of the posts I’ve pinned). and was intrigued by her style, then I discovered she had Bible studies you could buy, and I got her Corinthians study (which I’ve been working on off and on for quite a while).
This Christmas she came out with an Advent study, the kids and I worked on together. That’s another thing I’ve loved about her study, I can have my kids give it a try. It’s not super intimidating, and with John she’s got something new for her study:
LAPBOOKS! This will be cool in my Bible study
I printed off a copy, and think my John study is going to be this super cool mixed media thing, using a few techniques from the Mixed Media classes we’ve been going through. I’m not quite sure, but it’s going to be super duper cool.
I love how self paced this Bible study is
Unlike most Bible studies, it doesn’t say Day 1: do this.
Instead it gives you a checklist, so if you want to spend days or just a few minutes on a task, you can.
In the Journal and Doodle Facebook group they went through 1 Corinthians at 2 chapters a week. I did not keep up, I was spending a week or two on each chapter, and LOVING it. But, I love the ideas I get from the group as every day someone is posting a picture of their work.
I will say, her Advent study is designed for 1 a day, but it’s significantly simpler in scope.
I’d show pictures, but apparently I deleted the pictures I took during the study, and my journal is lost in the pile next to my bed. I cheated and grabbed my instagram picture.
