Bible: Raising of Lazarus game
For this Raising of Lazarus game all you need are a few energetic kids and some toilet paper rolls. We did this for a Backyard Bible Club, but it could easily be done in a Sunday School class.
Oh, and a “willing” volunteer or two to be Lazarus. The teens at our church are such good sports.
Raising of Lazarus game rules
- Each team starts a certain distance from “Lazarus”
- Decide on the level of difficulty, for this group of mostly younger kids, they just had to wrap around the whole body, but the older kids had to wrap each arm and leg separately
- Set a number of times they can wrap the toilet paper around the person. We set it at 5 times for a nice easy number to say
And at the end you can cry out “Lazarus Come forth,” just like Jesus did and Lazarus can:
Emerge from the grave!
As you can imagine this was wildly popular!
pop on over to Kids in the Word Wednesdays to see more ideas.
Of course this game goes with our Mary, Martha, and Lazarus lesson.

Hmmm…we have teens at our church, and I'm sure there must be a closet full of toilet paper somewhere…”Hey Ferb, I know what we're going to do next Sunday!”
This look like a lot of fun!
Looks like it was a popular activity!
Let me know if I'm still no-reply? I changed a setting…
Yay! What a perfect idea for my scripture class! I have kids from age 8 to 12 and this will be fun for all of them. Thanks so much
Glad to hear, it’s a huge hit every time we’ve done it.
