Bible Craft: David, man after God’s own heart

God looks at your heart, man after God's own heart craft

We read about when Samuel came to choose the new king.  Samuel kept looking at the older brothers and thinking, “Now that looks like a king,”

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7

David was a man after God’s own heart, and he worked hard to follow hard after God.

drawing what's in our heartsSo, we talked about what things are important in our hearts.  Which of course led to drawing our hearts.  I wanted it to be this multi-sensory use lots of different coloring sources…….  Yeah, not so much.

They enjoyed it though, and that’s what matters.

If you look into their hearts and what they drew, you can see, what’s in their hearts.  Family, friends, animals.  (kids in order: Batman, Superman, Princess)

It made me happy to see the values I’ve been pouring into them reflected back.

Very sweet! Love the photos of them with their hearts, too.

    1. I did too. I thought about showing mine, but I wrote all the kids names, and that seemed rather counter productive to using pseudonyms for them.

  2. I love Princess heart – so bright! We did a similar activity some time ago, only we wrote our favorite things, not drew them.

    1. I'd forgotten about yours. I thought about having them write, but it seemed like something they would push back on.

MaryAnne is right – very sweet! Makes me stop and think – how does God see my heart, or inward motivations, in contrast to how I think it looks – very challenging thought to start the day – thanks 🙂

    1. I know, it really does make you think. I know my heart isn't as pure and wonderful as I like to portray it.

I'm not sure where my heart is right now but usually the state of my house is a good indicator which means it's time to clean up!

Oh, I love this!!! They did a really great job with their heart drawings, and I love how FULL they look. They covered every inch of drawing space. You must be one proud mama! 🙂

    1. I sure am 🙂
